The system behind the rose – how PharmaRosa® works
If origin, varietal authenticity and consistent quality matter to you, it is worth seeing the background system as well. On this page, from the history of the nursery to how we work today, we show how pot-grown quality has become own-rooted, fully traceable production: identification, plot management, plant passport and quality assurance.

From research mindset to horticultural foundation
Our nursery’s roots go back to 1960: Dr István Túri, a pepper breeder, and his wife founded the business. From the very beginning, a research and breeding mindset has shaped how we work. Bringing new cultivars and cultivar types into production, and introducing new growing techniques, created a development culture on which PharmaRosa® still builds today.
The direction of rose production and pot-grown quality
From the early 1970s the family began to specialise in roses. Drawing on the experience of traditional bare-root production, over many years they developed the practice of pot-grown rose production. Its greatest strengths proved to be reliable establishment and the consistent preservation of varietal authenticity.
Becoming a business and continuing as a family
After 1992 the nursery developed into a business, and from the late 1990s the persevering work based on pot-grown rose production laid the foundations for the current success of PharmaRosa® Kft. Since the founders passed away, the business has remained under family management: versatility, a development-focused approach and professional discipline are still at the heart of our decisions.
The turning point: adaptation and a solution unique in Europe
The economic and labour market changes after 2018 created a new situation. We did not respond with “survival tactics”, but with a new, stable production and sales model: uniquely in Europe, we developed own-rooted rose propagation and cultivation across our entire range.
Today, production includes more than 1,500 varieties, and behind the range there is not a random assortment of stock but a coherently managed system.

How the PharmaRosa® system works today
The essence of how we work today: transparent origin, traceable processes, uniform professional standards. Our aim is that every rose – regardless of variety or format – consistently delivers the quality its name promises.
Checked foundation: uniform propagation material
Every process starts from the PharmaRosa® NEONATAL® rooted cutting, which is the basis of propagation. This ensures that varietal purity and consistent quality are not a “hope” but a system principle.
Plot-based growing: batch-identified, traceable journey
Growing takes place in designated, identified plots. The roses are handled in batches, so their journey from the plot to packing is fully traceable. This is not only about organisation, but about real security: if there is any deviation, we can act quickly and in a targeted way.
Plant passport and transparent origin
Roses sent out in packaging are supplied with a plant passport (Plant Passport). This means you do not just receive a beautiful plant, but also the backing of clearly traceable origin and compliance.
Two sales channels – one principle: clarity
Within our system there are two sales channels:
• Mediated sales, where the seller is the agricultural primary producer (this is indicated on the product page).
• Direct sales, where the seller is PharmaRosa® Kft.
The common point in both cases is that the process is transparent and you can clearly see all essential information.
Quality assurance: discipline, controllability, rapid intervention
For us, quality is not a final check at the end, but part of everyday operations:
• batch identification and traceability,
• controlled plant protection practice,
• stock and plot management suitable for official inspection,
• quarantine system: immediate action in the event of any deviation, to protect quality.

What does this mean for you?
PharmaRosa® is unique in that it puts a system behind every rose: a consistent propagation base, identifiable growing, documented origin and uniform professional responsibility. This is how we can sustain an operation which, even with a large range, makes quality, varietal authenticity and transparency a working reality rather than a promise.
A rose is a living plant – with natural variation. Our work is to ensure that everything that can be controlled (origin, varietal authenticity, growing discipline, traceability, packing and information) is delivered to the same standard with every order.
